Applauding and revisiting craft is seemingly part of a worldwide trend with one of America’s oldest and largest art museums, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, celebrating craft in an exhibition embracing the form and entitled ‘Craft Spoken Here’.
Amongst an array of international artists, the museum’s holding of Maio Motoko’s screen, ‘Kotodama: The Soul of Language’ is on display in the section entitled ‘Shape Shifting’. Attesting to the wondrous contemporary adaptation of the traditional folding screen form by this exciting artist, the Museum will include the work in its republished Museum guide later this year.
